İŞKUR, which is one of the exemplary public employment services in the world with the successful employment policies implemented recently under the leadership of the President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, was elected for the Presidency of European Region and the Vice-Presidency of World Association of Public Employment Services (WAPES) that has 80 members.

İŞKUR was elected for the Vice-Presidency representing the European Region in the 13^th WAPES World Congress held in Abidjan province of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast), and was entitled to represent Türkiye in this prestigious position.

The Employment Service of Slovenia was elected as the President of the Managing Board of the WAPES, for the period 2025-2028.

İŞKUR was elected as the Vice-President of WAPES representing the European region with the votes of 77 percent of the member countries in the WAPES World Congress held on May 6, 2025.

Following the election of İŞKUR as Vice President of WAPES, which has more than 80 members, Mr. Samet Güneş, Director General of İşkur became Vice President of the World Association of Public Employment Services.

Mr. Güneş, Director General participated in the plenary session of the General Assembly by video conference and stated that there would be more progress in İŞKUR’s recent successful activities thanks to the joint projects with public employment services around the World. Mr. Güneş mentioned that he would be honoured to lead the strategic studies to be carried out in the Europe Region, and especially studies on youth, women and disabled people and experience exchange on digital services were very important for the whole world.

Moreover, the delegation consisted of Mehmet Altun, Head of İŞKUR Foreign Relations and Projects Department, Aybars Can, Head of Labour Market and Statistics Department, Eser Erol and Begüm Kandemir, employment experts, who were in Abidjan to attend the General Assembly. The delegation also visited Deniz Erdoğan Barım, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye in Abidjan. During the meeting, Ambassador Barım expressed her appreciation for the visit of the delegation and emphasised the importance of strengthening the relations of the institutions of our country with Côte d'Ivoire. The delegation informed Ambassador Barım about the services offered by the Agency and the cooperation in the international field.
